Rusev Wanted To Take Inspiration In His Career From Kurt Angle

Throughout his WWE career, Rusev has proven himself to be one of the more diverse performers in the company. He has shown a serious, crushing side as the Bulgarian Brute, and shown a more comedic side with Rusev Day.

Speaking to Jerry Lawler on the Jerry Lawler Show, Rusev revealed that he took inspiration in his career from one of the most well-rounded performers in WWE history.

"Kurt Angle is the guy that I always wanted to inspire my career after because outside of the ring he was so funny and entertaining. And inside the ring, he was the best worker. He would tear you apart. He would do anything and everything. That's how I've always been. Being able to show that connected with the people," he said.

Angle has previously discussed not being afraid to make fun of himself on-screen, knowing he could pull off being an idiot because of his legitimate background. You can find his full comments on his character work by clicking here.

Rusev brought back the Bulgarian Brute character on Monday when he took on Bobby Lashley. Unfortunately, a distraction courtesy of Liv Morgan and Lana fighting at ringside led to Lashley picking up the victory. You can find Fightful's full coverage of WWE Raw by clicking here.
