Sami Zayn Defeats CM Punk To Win WWE Championship On 9/11 WWE SmackDown
Sami Zayn recaptures the WWE Championship.
On the 9/11 WWE SmackDown, CM Punk defended his WWE Title against Sami Zayn. Last week, Punk defended the title against Johnny Gargano, where Zayn tried to help.

In return, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae helped Zayn this week. LeRae distracted the referee when Zayn tapped out to the Anaconda Vice. Gargano tried to hit Punk with the title, but Punk managed to escape and deliver a GTS.

Shortly after this, Kevin Owens made an appearance as well. He tried to hit Zayn with the belt, but ended up hitting Punk instead. A low blow from Zayn takes out KO, after which Zayn goes for the Helluva Kick on Punk to win the match. He is now a two-time WWE Champion.
Earlier on the show, Gargano told Zayn that if he wins against Punk tonight, then he’ll be next in line for the WWE Title.
