Seth Rollins: My Character Is As If The Joker Were A Narcissist Going Through A Mid-Life Crisis

Seth Rollins wanted to be colorful and hated.

Rollins has been wearing eccentric suits on WWE television throughout 2021, making sure all eyes and thoughts have been on him and his outfits.

Speaking to Josh Martinez on Z100, Rollins discussed why he took his character in this direction upon his return at the Royal Rumble.

"Honestly, it was about doing something different and doing something fun. It all started when we were in the middle of the pandemic and we were doing shows in front of no crowds and we were doing Thunderdome stuff. A lot of the content I was seeing on our TV and basically in wrestling and entertainment, was real dark and it felt laborious to watch it and sit through it because it wasn't a lot of fun. Thinking back to the characters of my youth and guys like Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Gorgeous George, guys like that where they were just peacocking all the time. I wanted to find my own version of that and make it fun to hate somebody. I thought it would be totally different to what I've ever done and here we are," he said.

When asked how he would describe his character, he replied, "It's as if the Joker were a narcissist going through a mid-life crisis. I guess that's the best way to put it. It's a lot happening. The cool thing about the character is it can kind of go any which way. There is a lot of unpredictably with it. That's fun. You can have matches like Hell in a Cell with Edge and you can also have television segments where I can laugh with my best friend Bayley for five minutes. There are not a lot of characters on our television that can do all these different things."

Rollins is set to challenge for the WWE Championship at WWE Day 1 when he faces Big E, Bobby Lashley, and Kevin Owens in a fatal four-way bout.
