Seth Rollins talks about his wacky, eccentric suits.
Over the course of the last three years, Seth Rollins has gone from a wrestler's wrestler to a maniacal messiah, to an unhinged snazzy dresser that is also very good in the wrestling ring. Part of the appeal of his character currently is in seeing what he will wear when he comes to the ring. Speaking with Ariel Helwani for BT Sport, Seth Rollins spoke about his initial hesitation when it came to wearing the unique outfits and how he slowly came to embrace it all.
"In the beginning, I was kind of hesitant to just 100% go with it. But as I was just getting more comfortable in the character — because when I first started, I didn't really know, I didn't have a full grip on what the character was going to look like or where I was going to pull motivation from; I had a couple of ideas, but honestly, it was not where it's at now is not where I saw it at the beginning. The clothes were just like — I was trying to do something completely different, you know? Something that was off the wall, but a bit of a throwback to your Ric Flairs, or your Rick Rudes, or another one Gorgeous George. Just these flamboyant characters, and how could I modernize that, right?
"So I was just like, let's do some stuff that's totally off the wall," he continued. "Who are the celebrities now that are wearing some weird stuff? So I had had Troy and enlisted and he was gung ho on trying to find stuff and the first things he started to pass me were suits. So I was like, 'Okay,' and so we just kept doing the suits. Once I got comfortable in it, and people started to take note of it, it was like, 'Alright, let's get as weird as we can,' and so we just keep going. I see no end in sight," said Seth.
Seth Rollins also spoke about what he does with his suits after he wears them, revealing that about 70% of them are currently in the WWE archives in Stamford, Connecticut and he hopes to send trash bags filled with more of them.
"I keep all of them. I have stories to them all. So, I'd say 70% of them are in the WWE archives. I sent them to Stamford oh, so they have them. But obviously, I keep accruing new suits so the closets are getting pretty full. Right now, it's just a matter of trying to figure out — some of them get shredded and ripped and they're gone, but a lot of them are just in the closet at home. We have one in LA and one in Iowa. I just filled them up until, hopefully, the archives want them and I can send them up there and they're just going to have trash bags full of worn Seth Rollins suits."
In the past, Seth Rollins' wife, Becky Lynch has also spoken about working with Troy on her fashion. She also told Sean Ross Sapp during a 2022 interview that her hairdresser, Audy, helped her get a badass mullet for WrestleMania 38. The mullet was inspired by a three-year-old. Learn more here.
