Seth Rollins Says Crutch Drop Moment At WWE SummerSlam 2025 Was Bobby Roode’s Idea
It was Bobby Roode’s idea for Seth Rollins to do the crutch drop.
ESPN pushed out a new sit-down interview with Seth Rollins, and the focus of it was to look back at some of Rollins’ highlight moments in WWE.
One of those moments was when he returned at the conclusion of SummerSlam 2025 to cash in the Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk and become WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
The lead-up to the moment saw Rollins come out on crutches to play up the fake knee injury he had. Rollins shouted at Punk and then turned around to head to the back. He then stopped, stood tall, and dropped the crutches to signal that he was about to cash in. Rollins said the crutch drop was WWE producer Bobby Roode’s idea.
“None of this was rehearsed,” Rollins said about the revelation that he was cashing in at SummerSlam 2025. “Talked about it, briefly. I can’t take all the credit for the crutch tossing. I’ll take all the credit when it’s my idea. The idea for the crutch drop was actually a Bobby Roode idea, who’s one of the incredible performers in our industry — or was — and now is a great producer backstage.”
Rollins was featured on the May 25th Monday Night Raw on Netflix. He defeated Montez Ford in singles action, but the two banded together post-match after Austin Theory took out Ford’s partner, Angelo Dawkins.
