Shinsuke Nakamura Recalls Whirlwind 2018, Says Rumble Win Was The Highlight Of His Career

When Shinsuke Nakamura won the 2018 Royal Rumble match it ultimately, led to a heel turn after his WWE Championship match against AJ Styles at that year's WrestleMania. However, to this day, “The King of Strong Style has yet to win a World Championship in WWE.

Speaking with talkSPORT, Nakamura recalled his time at the top of WWE saying that after his Royal Rumble Victory, things moved so fast that he felt “like he was in a washing machine.”

“When I won the Royal Rumble in 2018, I felt like I was in a washing machine. Everything [goes] fast and crazy,” The current WWE Intercontinental Champion revealed. “So now, I’ve been in WWE four years, finally, I’ve got used to the environment. But that time I did win the Rumble, that was an unbelievable, crazy time for me. The best moment in my wrestling career. I want to feel that again.”

Regarding his WrestleMania loss to AJ Styles, Shinsuke says he was disappointed in never becoming champion. However, Nakamura, almost 40, says he still feels young.

He continued, “I was disappointed with myself. What should I do? I didn’t win the title and next month I’ll be 40, but I still feel young, healthy – that Asian gimmick [laugh].”
