The end of Shuhei Taniguchi’s career.

After two decades as a pro wrestler, Shuhei Taniguchi has decided to wrap up his in-ring career. He appeared at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s N-1 Victory final show and broke the news that he’s retiring from wrestling.

He stated in his backstage comments that two retirement matches are planned. Below are his full comments:

“Out since May, I’m sorry I couldn’t show my face. I’ve decided to retire. 21 years in this ring — thank you all for the support. A retirement match is coming. More details tomorrow.” He later added, “I’ve decided to retire, yes. Two retirement matches are planned, so until then I’m going to keep my conditioning right and keep going as a pro wrestler. Thank you for your support.”

The 49-year-old Taniguchi last wrestled in April. As he shared, more details will be provided on October 5th, and we’ll relay that information here on Fightful.
