Silver King Passes Away After Collapsing During Match In London

A Lucha Libre legend has unfortunately passed away.

Today, Silver King, real name César Cuauhtémoc González Barrón collapsed in the ring during a Lucha Libre World show in London, England during which he was wrestling Juventud Guerrera. It has been confirmed by @luchablog that Silver King did pass away and at the time of this writing, there is no definitive cause of the former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion's passing. Barron was 51-years old.

During the match with Juventud Guerrera, Silver King went in for a clothesline and covered his opponent. Juventud kicked out of the maneuver and King appeared to be struggling to get to his feet. Juventud also struggled to roll Silver King onto his back to make the cover as King became motionless.

Silver King is also remembered for his role in the film 'Nacho Libre'. Silver King is the son of Dr. Wagner and kick started his career in the mid 1980s. He was a part of WCW, All Japan Pro Wrestling, CMLL, AAA and worked in various promotions and companies around the world. 

WWE issued the following statement:

WWE is saddened to learn that Lucha Libre legend and former WCW star Silver King has passed away at age 51.

A champion luchador in his native Mexico, Silver King, real name César Cuauhtémoc González Barrón, entertained audiences across the globe, and was a standout in WCW?s Cruiserweight division in the late ?90s. Outside the ring, he appeared under a mask as the villainous Ramses in the popular 2006 comedy ?Nacho Libre.?

WWE extends its deepest condolences to Silver King?s family, friends and fans.
