Skylar Grey Recalls Being Hungover, Sobering Up When Asked To Do Bryan Danielson's AEW Theme

Bryan Danielson made his AEW debut at All Out, coming out to a "Ride Of The Valkyries" remix put together by Elliott Taylor.

Skylar Grey, who is Taylor's fiance, helped put the track together. Grey has been featured on many hit songs throughout the years including collaborations with Eminem, Macklemore, Dr. Dre, Diddy, and more. She has also performed multiple times at WrestleMania.

Speaking to Graham GSM Matthews and Doc Chris Mueller of Bleacher Report, Grey recalled how Danielson's theme came together.

"I remember being really hungover," she said with a laugh. "We were just sitting on the couch and being lazy couch potatoes and Elliott got a text from Bryan, everyone is from the same area, and he hit him up and was like, 'I need a new walkout song.' Elliott stood up off the couch and was like, 'Let's do this.' It was a quick hangover cure for me because having a project and something I could focus on just woke me up. We went up to the studio and were like, 'Okay, he wants to incorporate this chant, he wants to incorporate Flight of Valkyries, and we want to make it new and fresh and have a chorus.' We just figured it out and mapped it out. We did the chant, we chopped it up, and we put Flight of Valkyries. Initially, it was all the samples, but we had an orchestrator re-record the orchestra part. I put a beat on it and we sent it off to our producer friends to spruce it up. We wrote this hook, born for greatness, it felt right, and it happened super fast. It was only a few days and it went live. I think Bryan reached out to us on Monday and it aired on Sunday. We were really grateful."

Many fans were hoping Danielson would his "The Final Countdown" by Europe as his theme as he used it during his time in ROH and Tony Khan has been willing to pay for the rights for certain songs to be used at themes.

Unfortunately, Danielson revealed that the rights were too expensive. You can find his full comments by clicking here.

Danielson is set to take on Eddie Kingston on Friday's AEW Rampage. Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Rampage beginning at 10 p.m. ET on Friday.
