Slice Boogie Comments On LAX Revival In MLW, Says He Can Still Work For The NWA

Slice Boogie is set to make his MLW debut at MLW Battle Riot III, which will air on Saturday, July 24.

Boogie will not only be joining MLW, he'll be part of the new LAX alongside Danny Limelight. Konnan will remain with the group as their manager.

Speaking on Shining Wizards podcast, Boogie explained how the deal came together and revealed that his MLW contract still allows him to work with the NWA.

"MLW just reached out," said Boogie. "They reached out and gave us the idea. Konnan actually called me. I was having cold feet about it and wasn't sure I actually wanted to do it. I'm still contractually allowed to work with NWA. That was a major part of signing my deal with MLW. I don't know if NWA wants to keep me for the long haul or if they feel some type of way, but I want to keep that relationship going. I appreciate what they did for me. They treat me well and I learned a lot. It's a different learning experience at MLW and it's making me a more complete performer. Konnan reached out, at first I wasn't sure because I wanted to keep working with NWA, and then they told me I could keep working with NWA if I signed with MLW and that was it. They pitched the idea, LAX, they wanted to bring it back, me and Danny Limelight."

Boogie has been a featured star on NWA Powerrr in recent months and is set to take part in the Champions Series, which begins on July 27.

When asked what the LAX name means to him, Boogie replied, "It's a very big deal. Maybe wrestling fans didn't know they wanted a new version (of LAX), but when me and Limelight came out and got the crowd hyped, they were like, 'Oh, let's see what they have to offer.' I feel like it's a big deal and it's up to us to live up to those previous guys. All those guys have been successful in their careers."

Previous incarnations of LAX have featured Homicide & Hernandez and Santana & Ortiz. Both groups found success in IMPACT Wrestling and outside the promotion as well.
