Sofia Alonso is the new head honcho of CMLL.
It was officially announced to the world on July 7th that CMLL owner Paco Alonso passed away. Many were affected by the news as those who Paco provided opportunity and positions in CMLL to, took to social media to reflect on the life of Paco and their time working with him. With Paco Alonso's passing, his daughter Sofia Alonso is now assuming the role as President of CMLL.
Sofia Alonso spoke about her new position on CMLL Informa and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter shared quotes from her appearance. Alonso stated that she wants to keep all the good aspects of the company intact. She added that she is not looking to make major changes and wants to continue building on what her father established over the past number of decades. Sofia did add that she will make a few changes as she comes from a newer generation and noticed things that her father did not but those changes are not going to be drastic.
Current AEW star Chris Jericho shed tears in a video he posted on Instagram while speaking about the passing of Paco Alonso. Jericho dedicated the most recent edition of his Talk Is Jericho podcast to Paco.
