A new court document has Sonya Deville recalling the details of the attempted kidnapping that took place at her home in Lutz, Florida over the weekend.
Phillip A. Thomas II was arrested for stalking and breaking into Deville's home on Sunday with news reports saying he had planned for eight months to abduct her.
In a court petition seeking protection from the man (via Tampa Bay Times), Deville wrote she came face-to-face with Thomas and began yelling at him. ?That is when I realized this person was not here to rob me, he was there to hurt me," she wrote. According to the records, Thomas was holding a knife and pepper spray.
Deville's alarm went off around 2:41 a.m. She went to disarm the system and woke up her friend, who was identified as Mandy Rose.
?As I was ensuring the sliding glass door lock was secure, I looked up and on my back lanai was Phillip,? she wrote. She ran into Rose's room and the two fled to the garage, where they were able to get away and call the police.
Thomas was still in the home and arrested once the cops showed up.
Deville later found his social media profile and noticed his messages were "obsessive, suicidal, idolizing."
Thomas believed Deville was still upstairs after she and Rose had left the house. He admitted his plan was to pepper spray her and keep her hostage "until she answered all of his questions."
Deville was awarded a temporary injunction against Thomas. He is set for pre-trial on Thursday.
