Stephanie McMahon: Ronda Rousey Requested WrestleMania 34 Match Against Me
Ronda Rousey competed in her first wrestling match ever at WrestleMania 34, three years after she first appeared on WWE TV at WrestleMania 31 in a segment with The Rock.
At WrestleMania 34, Rousey teamed with Kurt Angle against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.
Speaking on What’s Your Story, Stephanie revealed that Rousey pushed for the match at Mania.
“I’m a big fan of hers. She was the one who requested the match. It was a couple of years later. Originally, she was going to come in sooner, but there was a movie or something. You [Triple H] signed her, and Ronda was the one who said, ‘We need to finish the story with Steph.’ She is the reason I ever had a WrestleMania match. It was her first match and we had to really train and put it together. It was stiff [laughs]. Safe, but stiff,” she said.
Ronda Rousey would become a full-time performer in WWE, winning the WWE Raw Women’s Championship later in the year.
Elsewhere during the interview, Triple H praised Stephanie for how she changed WWE. You can find his full comments here.
