Sting doesn't like watching his matches back.
Although fans enjoy watching their favorite wrestling matches frequently, many professional wrestlers rarely watch their own work. Sting happens to be one of those wrestlers. During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, "The Icon" revealed that he hasn't watched back his retirement match from AEW Revolution 2024. That match saw him team with Darby Allin to successfully retain the AEW World Tag Team Titles against Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson, also known as the Young Bucks.
Still, Sting says this isn’t an unusual practice for him since he never fully watches his matches again. However, he will watch clips if fans or family members send them his way.
"No, no, but you need to know a fact about me. The fact is that for 40 years, I've never watched hardly anything that I've ever done. I see certain things. Fans, family members, or friends will send a video, a two or three-minute clip of something. I watch stuff like that, and I'm not saying I haven't seen a whole match of mine, but it's rare. It is so rare. When I'm done, I take that hat off and go on with the next part of my life."
Elsewhere in the interview, Sting revealed that he kept in touch with Darby Allin throughout Darby's ascent of Mount Everest. Learn more about that here.
Tony Khan believes that Sting's retirement run is the most outstanding achievement AEW has accomplished. Read his comments here.
