Sting Believed There Was No Chance That He'd Ever Be Inducted Into The WWE Hall Of Fame

Sting did not think it was possible.

After spending the greater portion of his career in World Championship Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action, "The Icon" Sting never thought about being inducted into the Hall Of Fame because he simply believed that it was not in the books for him. After racking up accolades in both TNA and WCW during the prime of his career, Sting finally made his way to the land of sports-entertainment and signed with WWE and made his first appearance for the company at the 2014 Survivor Series PPV

Sting went on to have his first WrestleMania match at the 31st annual WrestleMania where he was defeated by Triple H. Six months after that Sting received a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the 'Night Of Champions' PPV and that was Sting's final match of his WWE and pro wrestling careers. Despite not having the sparkles and flashes on his WWE resume', "The Icon" still found himself in the WWE Hall Of Fame as he was inducted on WrestleMania 32 weekend. Sting recently joined Bill Apter's 'Apter Chat' podcast and reflected on his WWE Hall Of Fame induction and explained why he thought it was an honor that was never going to come his way.

“Oh absolutely not, I didn’t. There was nothing in me that believed in any chance anything like that would ever, ever happen, and I had wrestling fans through the years say, ‘Hey, Sting, what are you gonna do when WWE asks you to come into the Hall Of Fame and they want to induct you? I mean what would you do if they ask you?’ and I would say, ‘Well, that's not gonna happen. They’re not gonna ask me’, and that was always pretty much my answer and then by the time I actually go up there and wrestle and they were talking about doing it I said, ‘Well you know, I’m flattered. I think it’s awesome but, I’m still active. It feels kind of funny’, but I agreed to do it and it was good.” Sting recalled.

Sting was also the first inductee into the IMPACT Wrestling Hall Of Fame which recently gained a new member in the form of former NWA World Heavyweight Champion "The Monster" Abyss.
