Swerve Strickland Explains How Collaboration With Raekwon Came Together
When Swerve Strickland returned at AEW Full Gear, he did so with a new theme. “Big Pressure” was replaced by “Hit Different,” featuring Raekwon and Monteasy.
Speaking on The Cruz Show, Swerve explained how the collaboration came together.
“Raekwon showed up, and I was hearing back in AEW that we were supposed to do a collab with him years ago, but it fell through. I was like, ‘I’m gonna go ask him about that.’ That Friday, I stayed in New York and we were in the studio,” recalled Swerve. “Rest in peace Profit, who did the production on it. I’m glad we debuted it at Full Gear in November. He passed away in January. He at least got to see it in the arena. We had the beat and I was like, ‘I have a idea.’ I went in the booth and rapped in front of Raekwon. He was like, ‘I wasn’t expecting all that. You do this. You do this for real.’ He was expecting wrestling rap. I’m an artist. He gave me that stamp.”
Swerve is set to face Brody King in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament.
