Sycho Sid shares his thoughts on Paige being named SmackDown Live General Manager.
The former WWE Champion spoke to Hannibal TV and when asked about Paige becoming GM, Sid offered up his opinion on the matter.
"I think it's the stupidest thing. But it goes to how the business is. When the business is down, they'll okay things like that," he said. "This is the time you don't okay something like that. It usually says to me that they are having a hard time business wise. After that, I wouldn't have her on my show. I would have fired her immediately."
The "that" Sid is referring to is the infamous leaked sex tape involving Paige. The tape leaked online in March 2017. At the time, Paige was off WWE television following neck surgery in October 2016. Surprisingly, the tape was not-so-subtly mentioned by The Usos during a rap battle with the New Day. Otherwise, WWE distances themselves from the controversy until it blew over. Paige would remain off television until November 2017.
"I saw her back on TV and I thought, 'Okay, they are going to get rid of her' when they announced that she's got a retirement," said Sid. "I figured that was their way out of it. When you see her back on there (as GM), the first thing I thought was she's got something on someone."
Paige is currently thriving in the General Manager role, earning praise from her peers and fans online. She has never shied away from the leaked video, recently revealing that it will be subject matter in this season of Total Divas.
