Taichi Challenging Gabe Kidd For IWGP Global Heavyweight Title At NJPW Power Struggle

Taichi is looking to save NJPW from Gabe Kidd.

The IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship was up for grabs at New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s King of Pro-Wrestling show on October 12th.

Gabe Kidd put the belt on the line against Shota Umino. Kidd is in the midst of his second reign with the belt, and the match against Umino was his second defense.

During the backend of the bout, Kidd hit a clothesline on Umino. He got a two-count and then transitioned into the Brutalizer submission, which was used by the late Benjamin Satterley, a.k.a. PAC, who was part of the Death Riders in AEW alongside Kidd.

Kidd would later go on to defeat Umino to retain the title. Post-match, he asked who was going to step up to him next, and out came Taichi.

Taichi staked his claim to a title match, and Kidd set the date for Power Struggle on November 3rd.

Below is the updated card for Power Struggle:

  • IWGP Tag Team Championship: Knock Out Brothers (Yuto-Ice & OSKAR) (c) vs. United Empire (Will Ospreay & Callum Newman)
  • IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship: Gabe Kidd (c) vs. Taichi
