In April 2022, Jon Moxley made his return to DEFY Wrestling to face Tom Lawlor in a singles contest. This match, which was highly praised by independent wrestling fans, was originally scheduled for an earlier date that Moxley pulled out of after entering an inpatient treatment program for his battle with alcohol addiction.

Lawlor recently dove into the match in a lengthy but amazing piece with Moonsault Press. Lawlor specifically talked about dealing with Moxley both outside and inside of the ring.

“Outside the ring, dealing with Moxley is like talking to a domesticated animal. Inside the ring, it’s like dealing with a wild animal.“
