Tony Khan Thought Tay Conti Looked Like A Star When He Went To NXT House Show Four Years Ago

Tay Conti has quickly become a fast rising star in AEW, making her debut in the AEW Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament and now being featured regularly on Dark and Dynamite.

Conti was signed by WWE in 2016 and made various appearances on NXT television, but never found a substantial role. However, AEW President Tony Khan saw star potential in her very early in her NXT run.

"Tay Conti is a great example of somebody who I always thought looked like a star. I went to a NXT house show four years ago in Jacksonville and thought Tay Conti looked like she'd be a great star. She had such charisma and personality. She was working as a manager, and as a manager had that much charisma. She's developed so much the past few years as a wrestler. I'm really excited about Tay Conti," Khan said on Wrestling Observer Live.

Conti was released by WWE in April 2020 as part of company-wide cutbacks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She recently took part in the AEW Women's Title Eliminator Tournament, losing in the first round to Nyla Rose.
