Triple H: In Simple Terms, Vince McMahon Is Not Involved With NXT

Triple H talks Vince's involvement with NXT.

Since it was announced that NXT would be moving to USA Network beginning on Sept. 18, many have wondered how involved Vince McMahon will be with the brand. Many former WWE employees have echoed reports that have said Vince "won't be hands-off" with the brand given its new network and the fact that the show will go head-to-head with AEW.

NXT founder Triple H talked to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT and cleared up some possible misconceptions about Vince's involvement.

"There's a lot of things that people like Dave [Meltzer] say that don't make sense because they don't approach it from a business standpoint. We're gonna be live on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There's so much bandwidth to go," said Triple H. "It's funny the small-mindedness of it, people don't give Vince credit for being the businessman that he is. When people talk about him, as a businessman, there are so many crazy misconceptions. The truth is, all of what we're doing in this business is here because of him. He took a failing industry, so to speak, in the '80s and turned it into a global phenomenon when nobody else had the foresight to do it. People look at it where it is today, and you hear them say negative things, and it's like, really? We signed billion-dollar deals with USA and Fox. I'm not sure that it's crumbling. [Vince] is also smart enough to understand the things that we do and where they go and how and the pieces of it. In simple terms, he's not involved [with NXT]. Yeah, he's gonna have say in some things like the brand sits and the marketing of it with USA and clearly, whatever he wants to do, at the end of the day. But at this point in time, he's basically said, 'Go make this thing a success.'"

Vince himself has stated that he can "no longer be in the weeds," which is why Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff were appointed Executive Directors of Raw and SmackDown respectively.

On a recent NXT media call, Triple H also cleared up misconceptions as to why he was not considered for one of the Raw or SmackDown Executive Director roles. You can read what he had to say by clicking here.
