Triple H Told Dakota Kai And Raquel Gonzalez, 'Dusty Rhodes Would Be Proud' Following Tournament Win

Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez made history at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day when they won the first-ever Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

The duo defeated Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart in the finals, giving them the trophy and a future shot at the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

Appearing on Rasslin with Brandon Walker, Dakota and Raquel reflected on winning and the action-packed bout.

"It's an honor. We got paired a year ago and to know it's come full circle for us and being part of the Dusty Classic is a pleasure and an honor. To win it is amazing. We both came into the [Performance Center] after Dusty had passed and we missed the opportunity of getting to interact with him but he's an icon and someone we always looked up to. We've heard nothing but amazing stories from everyone at the PC and it's a pleasure," said Raquel. "It came off as very action-packed and that's how we wanted to start the show. You have Ember and Shotzi and they are very strategic and smart in how they would come at us. It was very much intense the entire time. It was so intense that being able to celebrate almost became overwhelming. Definitely an adrenaline rush match and we're very happy with it."

Kai added, "There's always a lot of pressure to open the show. It's a lot of responsibility to set the pace for the whole show. I think we did that and we went out there and put on a hard-hitting slugfest to really set up the rest of TakeOver."

When asked about a scary spot in which Kai took a doomsday crossbody on the floor, nearly hitting her head on the announced table, she responded by saying, "Yes [I am insane]. I was a bit worried about that because it was on the side of the commentary table. There has been a time in the past where my head has clipped the edge of the table and I had to get staples. Sunday was a good...I didn't hit my head on the end of the table, that's all I can ask for."

After the bout, once they celebrated on the ramp and got through the curtain, Triple H greeted the two ladies and gave them a high compliment.

"He said something very special to us, which was 'Dusty would be very proud to know Dakota and I were the first women to win the Dusty Classic,'" said Raquel.

Kai followed up by saying, "That hit us really hard, especially after an intense match."

It is unknown when Kai & Gonzalez will receive their WWE Women's Tag Team Title matches.
