Bate is locked in.
The 21-year old Dudley, England resident Tyler Bate is one of the stars of the NXT U.K. brand. He will be in action tomorrow and Sunday in Birmingham, England for the second-round of NXT U.K. TV tapings. Since becoming the first-ever WWE United Kingdom Champion in January of 2017, Bate has added on to his WWE credentials by winning the NXT Tag Team Championships alongside his running mate Trent Seven.
Outside of holding a number of championships in various promotions around the United Kingdom, Tyler Bate does have plans to hold all of the gold he can in NXT's U.K. brand. He stated just that during an interview The Sun to promote the upcoming NXT U.K. TV tapings.
“The UK Title is always something that is on my mind. In the NXT UK brand, there are a lot of people wanting to get themselves out there and get their names known, and they also all want a chance of wrestling for that title. But I still want another chance of getting back that title – and the NXT Tag Team Titles and the UK Tag Team Titles." Bate said.
Tyler Bate also spoke about being grateful for the opportunity to work for WWE and continue working his independent dates. Bate stated that although he and his fellow NXT U.K. brand-members are growing the brand and working the NXT TakeOver events, wrestling in those intimate settings will always be in the back of their minds.
“We have such a unique opportunity at the moment being able to do certain independent dates around the world, which obviously helps to grow the awareness of NXT UK brand." He said. "Then there is going over to the states and doing NXT TV tapings and Takeover – which I think was the largest-grossing show in the brand’s history. So that is going to provide exposure both sides of the pond. But as we continue to grow our shows it will be hard to forget those slightly smaller and unique crowds we’ve been used too. But it’s just part of the natural progression – although I’m not sure there will be many people twirling mustaches if we go to the main show.”
On a related note, there is a new rule in place for the members of the NXT U.K. brand. Click here for more information on the rule.
