Vaughn Vertigo: Maple Leaf Pro Is The National Wrestling Promotion That Canada Has Been Waiting For

Vaughn Vertigo discusses the importance of Maple Leaf Pro.

Since returning in 2024, Maple Leaf Pro has helped reinvigorate Canada’s wrestling scene. With other momentum from indie promotions like Mystery Wrestling and C4 Wrestling, the region is in tip top shape when it comes to their wrestling scene.

Speaking with Fightful Overbooked’s Joel Pearl, Vaughn Vertigo said that Maple Leaf is the national/global promotion that Canada has been waiting for.

“Canada has longed for this national Canadian wrestling promotion. Obviously, Maple Leaf Wrestling in the 80s and 90s was a thing. I was born in 95, so I missed all that, but everybody older than my generation always talks about the days of the Maple Leaf Gardens and Maple Leaf Wrestling. So, this new generation of Maple Leaf Pro, where it looks like they may be touring the country and they’ve been active now for two years, it’s an opportunity for Canadian wrestlers that we didn’t have two years ago. This is why I ended up going to Europe, why I searched for a US visa, to have these opportunities and to be showcased on a national, if not a global scale. Now, that opportunity is here at home, something that all of us have wanted for so long.”
