Vince McMahon explains how he was able to graduate.
Before McMahon became the owner of WWE, he worked his way through East Carolina, graduating with a degree in business. McMahon overcame a learning disorder and wasn't afraid to knock on a few doors to get the grades he needed.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, McMahon explained how he got his degree.
"I'm certainly a student of psychology, street psychology," he said. "The kind of student I am is, my grades weren't good enough to get into college, I've always been a horrible student. No learning skills, I'm sure I had every learn disability there was, although there were no names for them then. I was expelled so many times for fighting, crap like that, I wasn't in school a lot. I didn't like school. I didn't learn how to study. I had to go to summer school to get into college. Then, it took me five years going to every summer school to get back in. Five years to get through four-year curriculum. I graduated. Business administration. I don't have the grades to graduate, I'm slightly off, if I went from a B+ to A-, that would help me. I forgot the subject, but I wasn't going to graduate. My wife at the time, my wife [Linda], she went through a four-year curriculum in three years. She's really smart.
"We were supposed to graduate at the same time, but I don't have the grades. I'm not asking for the world, I'm not asking for an A when I had a D. I found out where these two professors live. What am I going to do? I have nothing to lose. Knock on the door, say hello, 'I'm Vince McMahon,' they didn't know who I was because of the large class. One of them was so kind and said 'absolutely, B+ to A-, would be happy to do that.' The other was such an unbelievable asshole, 'No, I'm not going to do that.' I get it, it's unusual for a student to find out where you live and to knock on the door, but I didn't have anything to lose. There was a bit of a confrontation and he was going to call the cops. Call the cops, I still didn't have anything to lose. 'Call them if you want to.' Finally, the guy did change my grade, but that's how I graduated. It's his home, I wasn't invading his home."
McMahon would eventually purchase the WWE from his father, leading the promotion to new heights.
