Will Ospreay Says There's No Talks Of AEW & NJPW Working Together But They Can Root For Each Other

Will Ospreay is sad to say there are no plans for a working relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling.

Will Ospreay is highly-praised by the likes of Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega and in a new interview with Wrestletalk, Will opened up about the last thing that was said to him by Kenny Omega before he left to help with the start of All Elite Wrestling.

?The last thing Kenny ever said to me, we were in this big meeting and he pulled me to one side and said with the Bucks and Cody 'alright, you?ve got to take the reins now. It?s all on you,'? Ospreay recalls.

Continuing on, Ospreay was asked about the start of a potential working relationship between NJPW and AEW. It is known that several wrestlers have clauses in their contracts that allow them to work New Japan dates. Current AEW Champion Jon Moxley is also the current IWGP United States Champion.

Unfortunately, Will says there is no potential relationship in the works.

?There?s nothing. I wish I could tell you there is something, but there isn?t,? he revealed. ?Yes [he would like a working relationship with AEW], because I think that?s what fans want, and I?m a believer in giving them what they want. No, because neither party needs each other. The main reason is, AEW is succeeding, Let?s do this in terms of wrestling and in terms of revenue. I don?t know what AEW makes, I?ve got no idea, but I can only assume that because Tony Khan is behind it it?s doing financially very very well. Especially because they?ve got four more years on TNT, they don?t need to change anything. Keep doing what you?re doing.?

He continued, ?New Japan has its highest revenue to date, Regardless of it happening, we are putting on bangers every single big pay-per-view. Does NJPW need AEW? No. Does AEW need NJPW? No. But we can support [each other] from the sidelines. I support AEW and I hope they support New Japan. If there was a chance for it to come true and for it to happen, I?d be all for it. I?ll strap up and I?m ready to put in a shift. Until then, I?m supporting from the sidelines, they are all my friends but I?m 100% a New Japan guy.?

Also in the interview, Will talked about the possibility of a match with CM Punk following Punk's comments about having a desire to work with him if the creative was right. You can read the full interview at this link.
