Wolfgang speaks about his journey to NXT UK.
Wolfgang is one of the top names in NXT UK, but before he was hanging out with the Coffey brothers as part of Gallus, he was working at the family bar in Glasgow.
“I was fortunate that I had a job where I work around wrestling, and the pub supported it, off that back of that I was able to get in the ring more and train more," Wolfgang told The Daily Star. “If it wasn’t for my dad, I probably would have had a more difficult time of it. I go back from time to time and see if they need a hand, if they need some pints pulled or the bar watched. Going back is nice because I worked it for ten solid years, so you have all the characters and the locals, that is the kind of bar that it is. It is a real friendly place with a real family feel.”
Wolfgang was part of the inaugural NXT UK Title Tournament in 2017. He made it to the semifinals before losing to eventual tournament winner Tyler Bate.
“Two and a half years ago If you told me all this was going to have happened it would have seen a million miles away," said Wolfgang. “To be in this position and looking back, we have accomplished a lot, we have done everything we can to get it to this point. Not only performing in the ring, but drumming up interest, and the UK fans have been choking for this for a long time. We did it, we got our own weekly show with our guys on with it a platform given to us by WWE. We can show now how deep the talent pool is in the UK.”
Wolfgang recently wrestled current NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne on an episode of NXT UK. Fightful provides live coverage of NXT UK every Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
