Ruby Riott Released By WWE

Ruby Riott has been released by WWE, as reported by Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp.

As first reported by Fightful Select, WWE has released Ruby Riott as of Wednesday, June 2, 2021. We reported the following:

Tony Khan: We're Up Against An Evil Juggernaut; AEW Is Like Pepsi, WWE Is Like Harvey Weinstein

Among the other releases that we've heard about Ruby Riott's release definitely seemed to shake the WWE roster the most, based on those we spoke to. Riott was universally popular backstage, and commended for her hard work often.

Riott was signed by WWE in 2016 and made her NXT debut in 2017. She was called up to the main roster in November 2017 alongside Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan as the Riott Squad. The trio would split during the 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-Up. Riott was sidelined from August 2019 to February 2020 with a shoulder injury.

After a singles run and a brief feud with Morgan, the two would reunite in August 2020. They defeated The IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay) at the end of the month in a stipulation tag team match where the losing team must disband. Riott was drafted to WWE SmackDown in the 2020 WWE Draft.

Ruby last wrestled on the May 28 episode of WWE SmackDown, teaming with Morgan in a loss to WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Natalya & Tamina in a non-title match. Ruby, whether wrestling as a singles competitor or teaming with Morgan, had not won a match since January 1.

Riott was among multiple releases made by WWE on Wednesday. You can view the full list by clicking here.
