WWE SVP Of Gaming Matthew Geyer Says WWE Is Looking To Launch New Games Across New Genres

WWE is looking to do more in the gaming market.

CES, the most influential tech event in the world, is currently being held through January 8 in Las Vegas and WWE has a presence at the event with Senior Vice President of Gaming Matthew Geyer making the rounds.

Speaking to Brian Tong at CES, Geyer discussed the future of gaming in the world of WWE.

"This year, we're looking at announcing and launching some new games across new genres that we haven't been in business yet. We have a pretty healthy portfolio with games like 2K22 and we have mobile games that have done extremely well such as WWE Champions and WWE Supercard, which is 2K's highest-grossing mobile game. We want to do more games and want to bring in new types of genres, both in the Web2 and Web3 space and figure out what's the best thing to do for our fans because fans want more content and we're focused on that," he said.

WWE partnered with non-WWE brands such as Fortnite and Rocket League in 2022 allowing fans to use WWE characters or likenesses in the game.

"We talked a little bit about the Epic games integration that we did and it's really important that we do more of those brand integrations. You'll definitely see more of those coming out later this year with other big gaming publishers and some of the biggest games in the industry. We're definitely going to be doing more of those and they'll be announced relatively soon. The other thing is the metaverse, that's one thing we're trying to figure out and finalize and how to best launch our WWE experience in the metaverse," he said.

WWE has yet to announce details for WWE 2K23.
