Xavier Woods Talks Video Game Feud With Kenny Omega, Wanting To Bring Wrestling Energy To Gaming

Xavier Woods fondly looks back at the feud between The New Day and The Elite that culminated in a video game battle.

Back in 2018, the two factions faced off at the E3 gaming conference in a Street Fighter V Team Battle with New Day coming out on top in the match. In an interview with ESports Observer, Woods talked about how special it was to be able to face Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks in a video game match and the electric atmosphere that was present.

"Being able to do all that stuff with Kenny and The Young Bucks at E3 was awesome, because people thought this would never happen and they let me handle it in the way that I wanted to handle it, which was ‘very wrestling.' We did a contract signing, announced our teammates one-by-one, and tried to build the hype for it. So I was grateful for that, again, because like I said, I’m trying to bring more wrestling energy into the gaming space," Woods said.

A match inside the realm of video games is probably the most the two groups will end up interacting given that the New Day are with WWE and Omega and The Young Bucks are with AEW.

“It’s like a common sense thing,” Woods said. “Their company probably wouldn’t let them be on my channel and my company probably wouldn’t think it’s a good idea that we do something like that.”
