Xia Brookside says she had been pitching a heel turn ‘for a long time’ before her actual turn came about at TNA Rebellion.
At the 2026 TNA Rebellion pay-per-view, Xia Brookside turned her partner Léi Yǐng Lee and cost her a Knockouts World Championship match. Since the turn, Xia has gone on to become the TNA Knockouts World Champion at Slammiversary.
While speaking to 3W-Wrestling in a new interview, Xia Brookside spoke about her heel turn, noting that she had been pitching a heel turn ‘for a long time.’
“I wanted it. I had been pitching it for a long time and they, I mean, everyone has always said no. I’ve always wanted to try and be a heel, I don’t know why I just think because I was babyface for so long that I was pitching I’m like, I have just been the same person for such a long time and I’m ready to try something new and finally they trusted me and they put full faith in the character that I could become and I don’t even know if I know when I turned heel this wasn’t even on their minds like it was just- and then because of how the turn happened and they loved it so much, like this was the goal after that. So really, it was fun. It was easy. I mean, doing it against someone that was your best friend and just being able to fully let loose and do everything and say whatever and have no kind of repercussions because you were so close, that it was an easy decision, easy turn, and everything since has just been fun.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Xia spoke about the upcoming Lockdown pay-per-view. You can read more about that here.
