Zoey Serrano Opens Up About Knee Injury She Suffered On WWE Raw: “I Just Mistimed It”

The injury that shelved Zoey Serrano for a year.
It was back in May 2025 that qualifying matches were taking place for the Money in the Bank Ladder matches. On the women’s front, there was a Triple Threat qualifying match with Rhea Ripley, Kairi Sane and Zoey Serrano f.ka. Zoey Stark.
Serrano went for a springboard missile dropkick but planted awkwardly. She was removed from the match, and it was later revealed that she tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus.
Serrano guest appeared on the Game Day Grace Podcast and said she just mistimed the dropkick. She said as soon as she landed, she knew she was hurt. Serrano remembers being checked out backstage, and there was a moment when the medical staff could not find a pulse in her foot.
“I’d done this dropkick, like this spot exactly, multiple times, and it’s always a precise timing. So she (Kairi Sane) was supposed to hit the ropes and as she’s running towards me, here I come flying out of the air, hitting her with a dropkick. So, it was just one of those things where I just mistimed it. She hit the ropes and I just went too early instead of just waiting just a couple of seconds longer and honestly, I should have just taken the bump, and looked like an idiot instead of trying to land on my feet and then looking like an idiot. One’s way worse than the other so, it’s just one of those that it was supposed to be a dropkick and it was supposed to land. But, just things happen when you’re in there.” Serrano was asked if she immediately knew she was hurt and replied, “Yeah, yeah, I did. I just felt my knee just go… So if it’s supposed to go this way, just to the right of my body. So I’m really lucky the fact that I didn’t actually dislocate my knee joint or anything because that’s what they thought at first. When he carried me to the back, he was in such a rush to untie my boots in front of — I’m sitting in Gorilla (Position) and you have Bruce Prichard and Paul Heyman, all these guys. I’m like, ‘We’re not doing this right here. We need to actually go into the medical’ so he picked me up, carried me to the back and took it off as soon as he could because they were worried, one, that my knee was dislocated and that I would have to go to the emergency room and I don’t know if it would be an emergency surgery at that point. But they couldn’t find my pulse in my foot. It was actually a little scary for a little bit. When they couldn’t find the pulse in my foot, they made it sound like this is a big deal but luckily they found it and then I was able to go home, get an MRI and that’s when I found out I tore my ACL, MCL, meniscus.”
Serrano was released from WWE before she could make her in-ring return for the company. She is now back on the independent scene. She did several dates for Revolution Pro Wrestling in July.
