WWE Cruiserweight Title Gets A New Look, Then Doesn't, Then We're Bummed

Kalisto is still the WWE Cruiserweight Champion, but his title belt got a bit of a cosmetic change. Or so it seemed.

Kalisto posted a picture of himself holding the WWE Cruiserweight title advertising a WWE Live Event in Yakima, Washington on October 15. The title Kalisto is holding looked like it didn't have the purple strap the title has had since it was introduced at the end of the Cruiserweight Classic in 2016, when TJ Perkins won the tournament and title. Instead, due to lighting, it looked black, prompting joy from fans (and us, initially.)

The title can be also be seen in a picture posted by former WWE Tag Team Champion Darren Young, but looks purple in this photo.

The change from purple to black straps would follow the fact that WWE no longer changes ring ropes to purple for cruiserweight matches on Monday Night RAW a while back. However, it doesn't seem to be the case.

Kalisto won the title on the October 9 episode of RAW when he beat Enzo Amore in a lumberjack match after Enzo only had the title for a little more than two weeks. The purple-strapped belt has been held by the likes of Brian Kendrick, TJ Perkins, Akira Tozawa, Neville and more.
