Details Behind Chris Jericho And WWE Rumors, AEW Future

Chris Jericho has become the topic of conversation once again.
Jericho hasn’t been seen on AEW programming in months, walking away from the Learning Tree in mid-April. We haven’t seen any hints of him returning to programming or anything of that nature since then, but there have been WWE rumors swirling around Jericho.
Jericho liked a post on Instagram that implied he should go back to WWE, which led to a lot of buzz regarding a potential return. This was magnified by reports that it had been discussed, but some in WWE pumped the brakes on that.
It was noted to us that regardless, Jericho is signed through 2025, and has a number of months left on his deal. We haven’t heard of any creative discussions regarding Jericho in All Elite Wrestling of late, but also Jericho tends to speak with Tony Khan directly regarding his creative. There also isn’t a huge track record of him taking this amount of time off and how it would be handled, if there would be a contract freeze, or how a potential return could be handled.
It is worth noting that internally and on AEW’s roster page that Bryan Keith and Big Bill are no longer listed as members of “The Learning Tree.”
WWE sources that we spoke to said that Jericho’s name hasn’t come up whatsoever around the creative process, so if conversations have happened regarding him internally, it wasn’t in that department. There are certainly talent who have been speculating about his potential return, and higher ups told us that Jericho remains on good terms with WWE. One source in the company called the situation far too early to tell, because WWE doesn’t seem sure what Jericho’s status will be in the coming months.
Jericho was one of AEW’s most important hires, launching the company in 2019 and becoming their first world champion.
