Maryland Attorney General Files New Motion In Ring Boy Lawsuit Against WWE, TKO, And McMahons

According to BJ Bethal, a new motion has been filed in the ring boy lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, and TKO. They are seeking to defend the Maryland Child Victims Act. The defendants say the Act violates the US and Maryland constitutions.
The lawsuit was originally filed in Maryland Superior Court before, but was later moved to federal court after a motion by WWE, TKO and the McMahons.
The Maryland Child Victims Act of 2023 was upheld in a Maryland Supreme Court ruling earlier this year. The Act eliminates the statute of limitations in negligence claims in regard to lawsuits by child abuse victims. The defendants continue to argue that the Act is illegal under the US Constitution and the Maryland Constitution.
The plaintiffs allege abuse by the ring announcer Mel Phillips, who died in 2012, during their work as minors for the World Wrestling Federation in the 1970s through the early 1990s. The defendants are being accused of negligence.
The McMahons recently filed oppositions to the ring boy plaintiffs’ request to maintain anonymity.
The lawsuit was originally filed in October 2024. You can read the full lawsuit here.
