Ronda Rousey: Hunter Campbell Is A Fucking Asshole

Ronda Rousey returns to the cage on Saturday when she faces Gina Carano in arguably the biggest women’s fight of all time. Despite the star power in the bout, it will be taking place under the MVP banner and not in the UFC.

Rousey previously revealed that she brought the fight to the UFC, but it didn’t work out.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Rousey was asked if it was personal between her and UFC to take the fight elsewhere.

“No, it wasn’t personal. With Hunter it was personal because he was a fucking asshole about it,” she said.

Hunter Campbell is the Chief Business Officer of the UFC.

Asked how it was personal between her and Campbell, she replied, “He was just being such a chauvinist prick and so dismissive. Just trying to get me and Gina to value ourselves less from the get go and acting like this isn’t the greatest thing that has fallen into his lap since he’s been there. He’s like, ‘Oh, you guys are so much older. I don’t know how it’s going to do.’ Who the fuck is this guy? I didn’t even know who he was. I was told, ‘He’s the lawyer that is going to come and show you your pay-per-view numbers.’ Fine, I’m going to knock this out of the park. I love having my pay be performance-based. Fuck you, I’ll show you. Dana mentioned that he wanted me and Gina to fight for the 145 title because it was vacant and it was a way to retire the belt. Hunter is like, ‘Yeah, then we can get rid of that division.’ The way he spoke of it and how dismissive he was and the disdain he had for the fighters at that weight, motherfucker, my husband is 6’7”, my girls are not going to be 135. This is what you think about women who are heavier than 135 pounds, that they can’t offer you anything and are worthless? It just really rubbed me the wrong way. This fucking guy is going to be shepherding the company that I helped build? It rubbed me the wrong way. I was talking to my mom about it. He was like, ‘I met your mom, she is so great. Tell her I said hi.’ After the meeting, I’m like, ‘Mom, do you know who Hunter Campbell is?’ ‘Yeah, he’s a fucking asshole. Screw that guy.’ ‘Why don’t you like him?’ ‘He’d sell tickets to Christians being fed to lions.'”

Rousey noted that her mom is part of the California State Athletic Commission and she was in the meeting where Campbell wanted to bring Power Slap to California.

“(During the meeting), Hunter goes, ‘This is a really big opportunity for a lot of these people. A lot of these guys would be doing meth in a trailer park if it wasn’t for this.’ That’s what you think of the fighters? We are glorified bum fights to this guy. He doesn’t have a job because he’s good at it; he has a job because he is Dana and Lorenzo’s lawyer’s son. He was a fucking intern when I was there before. Now, he’s coming up to me saying, ‘I don’t know how you and Gina are gonna do.’ Motherfucker, I’m gonna put on a bigger fight with Gina than you have in an entire career. Keep trying to fail upwards. Keep trying to suck the right dicks in the right order. I’m coming for your job. You pissed off the wrong bitch. I told Dana, ‘The last thing you want me to do is leave this office pissed off with something to prove. This motherfucker is pissing me off and now I have something to prove.’ He’s a dick,” she said.

Rousey vs. Carano will stream live on Netflix.
