John Laurinaitis: CM Punk’s Line On WWE TV About Me Calling Talent To Fire Them Was Not A Shoot

John Laurinaitis briefly comments on the TV moment.

There was an in-ring segment on WWE Monday Night Raw in the summer of 2011 involving CM Punk, John Cena, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, and John Laurinaitis.

During the segment, Punk turned his attention over to Laurinaitis and brought up Laurinaitis calling the likes of Chris Masters, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and Vladimir Kozlov to release them from WWE. While doing a virtual signing with Signed By Superstars, Laurinaitis was asked if that line from Punk was unscripted, and he said the following:

“No — was not a shoot,” Laurinaitis laughed.

CM Punk has been back with WWE since 2023. He has not been present on WWE programming since the Raw after WrestleMania 42. Fightful Select has an update on Punk that can be read here.

Laurinaitis was included in former WWE employee Janel Grant’s sex trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE. Laurinaitis was dropped from the suit after he agreed to provide evidence to help Grant’s case.
