Kevin Knight Shares That He Spent The Night In Hospital With Steven Borden After Injury At AEW All Out

Kevin Knight was with Steven Borden the whole way through.

The 2026 AEW All Out pay-per-view featured a tag team bout that saw Darby Allin and Steven Borden take on Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight.

During the bout, Knight and Borden were standing on opposite sides of the ring and agreed to jump off the top turnbuckle and clash in mid-air. They did just that, but when Borden landed, the back of his head smacked against the ring mat. The match was called off, and Knight and Fletcher were declared the winners. Borden was stretchered off and taken to a hospital.

Knight was interviewed by Shounak Chakrabarti of ClutchPoints and shared that it was a spot that he and Borden discussed and rehearsed beforehand. Knight added that he spent the night in the hospital with Borden.

“As a human, it was just checking on him, making sure he’s okay. Obviously, you never want things like that to happen in your own match, especially when you’re involved with it. So it was just making sure that he’s okay. You know, I spent the night at the hospital with him. He was perfectly fine. It was just a scary bump, a scary risk. But yeah, it was not an ideal situation. But we’re gonna bounce back from it, and you know I’m excited to see what Steve has to offer more, you know, come into the future. Pretty sure he’s gonna bounce back.” Knight continued, “ We talked about it and everything. We walked it through. But, just like I said, just with anything, stepping through the ropes, walking on the stairs, hitting the ropes, taking any kind of bump, you’re risking your life anytime you’re doing any of those things. So it was just a freak accident, and Steve is a trooper, so I’m sure he’ll come back better than ever.”

Knight further commented on being at the hospital with Borden and conversing with him.

“I was in the hospital room with him all night, and we were having conversations, talking, you know, just how we’re gonna piggyback off of this and how we can make a situation out of this. How can we, you know, see the opportunity in this tragedy type of thing? So it was obvious in this business: things happen, and it sucks that it happened, but you just have to pivot and learn from them and grow.”

The latest update on Borden came from Tony Schiavone, and his comments can be read here.
