Stu Grayson reflects on his recent Maple Leaf Pro match with Josh Alexander and how they wrestled an explosive Canadian style.

At Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Northern Rising on October 3rd, Grayson and Alexander would face off in a Canadian Championship unification match, with Alexander walking away with the victory.

While speaking to Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds in a new interview, Stu Grasyon reflected on the match with Alexander.

“Listen, Josh and I, the last time we wrestled each other, I think it was 2018 in Montreal, and, we had a really, really good time. We always matched up really well. We are both huge- I don’t know how to say that we we’re both classic Canadian pro wrestlers. So what we like to do is what I now call the new style of Canadian pro wrestling, the explosive Canadian technical style, which is yes. We wrestle the way of the new age of pro wrestling, more innovative and so on. But Canadian pro wrestling has always been about being technically sound, but we are more explosive more than ever. So if you look at guys like myself with all the power moves that I do, the high flying, Josh Alexander with the striking, the technical, guys like Speedball and Kenny, whether it’s the high flying, the striking, we’re very, very explosive. So our styles works really well, because we kind of do the same thing, but the foundation is the same. But then we both went on to do our own things in a different way. So our style has always worked really well against each other. So wrestling Josh Alexander is always so much fun. The match itself was extremely physical, and we told each other, we are going out there and fucking brace yourself. You know, I’m coming in, know you’re doing the same thing. We’re gonna push and see how far we can get this, and, uh, it was almost- let’s test each other and let’s see which one of us can actually keep on going, and, uh, that’s what we did. That’s how I like to wrestle, and I know that Josh needed to show that he could do it because he just came back from a knee injury, and he didn’t get as much in the ring time as he would have wanted because he’s like me. We want to be in the ring almost every day. You know what I mean? When you don’t get to do that and you have something huge coming up, you feel like, oh, I have something to prove, and it’s not even to anyone. It’s to yourself. I am just as good as I was before the injury or whatever break I needed to take, and I was the perfect guy for him to test himself against. So we had a blast. Once it was all said and done, honestly, I drove home, Toronto, to Ottawa. It was about a five-hour drive. Listening to music, had a good time, went to bed, slept really well. I woke up in the morning. My pillow was covered with blood because of the screwdriver. I had three big-ass holes in my head. But otherwise, it was good.”

Elsewhere in another recent interview, Stu spoke about his time in All Elite Wrestling. You can read more about that here.
