Anderson Silva's return to the cage will take place a couple months before his 42nd birthday, as he'll face Derek Brunson at UFC 208 on February 11.
One of the greatest fighters in MMA history, #7 Anderson Silva (33-8, 1 NC) returns winless in his last five fights, although they all tell an interesting story. Silva took his last fight against Daniel Cormier several weeks removed from surgery under a week's notice. His 2016 fight with Michael Bisping saw controversy when he dropped Bisping at the end of the third round while Bisping signaled to a referee that he lost his mouthpiece. Silva celebrated victory, but the fight ended up going two more rounds, seeing Bisping earn a victory. A 2015 win over Nick Diaz was overturned when Silva failed a drug test. Silva infamously broke his leg on a checked kick during his UFC 168 loss to Chris Weidman, just months after he was caught goofing off by Weidman and subsequently knocked out.
The 16-4 Brunson is ranked at #8 in the UFC middleweight division, and is fresh off a loss to Robert Whittaker in November. The 33-year old won five fights in a row prior to that, including four first round finishes.
UFC 208 takes place February 11 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Travis Browne and Derrick Lewis headlining.
