Chad Freeman, who has competed in such promotions as Bellator MMA and King Of The Cage, put that martial arts experience to good use recently.

The fighter, who last competed in 2014, was woken up this past Monday morning by his daughter, as she was alerting Freeman to the fact that his truck was being stolen.

CTV Vancouver reports that Freeman would make it outside just in time to watch his truck being stolen by the unnamed thief. Freeman would then find the alleged thief about five hours later when a friend notified the fighter that his truck had been spotted in the area.

Freeman would find the alleged truck thief sitting in the grass, which is where Freeman approached the thief and pinned him to the ground. Freeman saw that the alleged thief was reaching into his pocket and Freeman would choke the person out using a lapel choke.

“I didn’t take any chances so I threw a choke on him,” he said. “We call it a lapel choke. I said, ‘if you move, I’ll put you to sleep.’”

Authorities would show up a short time later and arrest the alleged truck thief, with the police finding knives, drug paraphernalia and a metal bar in the person’s belongings.

Freeman last competed at Bellator 119 in May of 2014, suffering a first round submission loss to Behrang Yousefi.
