After news broke on Thursday night that Khabib Nurmagomedov has officially retired from MMA and will relinquish his UFC lightweight title, it was also made official that Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler will now fight for the vacant belt at UFC 262 in May.

Oliveira is finally awarded a much-deserved title shot after getting a dominant win over Tony Ferguson back at UFC 256 which extended his winning streak to eight fights in a row.

For Chandler, the story is very different. Chandler has only had one fight in the UFC and has already been awarded a title shot. Chandler announced his arrival to the UFC at UFC 257 where he scored an extremely impressive knockout win over Dan Hooker.

Both Oliveira and Chandler have taken to social media to react to the news that they will both be receiving title shots next.

Chandler reacted with his trademark saying "see you at the top".

Then Oliveira reacted by saying "let's go!"

After months of trying to convince Khabib Nurmagomedov to fight one more time, UFC president Dana White has finally conceded defeat to Nurmagomedov as he officially announced his retirement.

In the tweet, White said, "It was incredible to watch you work @TeamKhabib thank you for EVERYTHING and enjoy whatever is next my friend".

The UFC's official Twitter account then posted this touching video of Khabib and his father Abdulmanap who sadly passed away in 2020.

Chael Sonnen also has a past with Hans Molenkamp...

When Dominick Cruz defeated Casey Kenney at UFC 259, in his post-fight interview he called out Monster Energy's Hans Molenkamp. After Cruz did this, many other fighters came out and talked about their negative experiences with Molenkamp.

Since then, an image has surfaced of the "American Gangster" Chael Sonnen riding on the back of Molenkamp's motorcycle, something which Molenkamp probably wanted Sonnen to do.
