Khabib Nurmagomedov Excited For Future Of Eagle Fighting Championships
During the main card of UFC Fight Island 7, UFC President Dana White announced Khabib Nurmagomedov's "decision" on his retirement...and it wasn't much of a decision.
The Russian-born UFC lightweight champion apparently told White that he's staying retired unless someone at UFC 257 can "impress" him during either the main event between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier or in the co-main event between Dan Hooker and promotional-newcomer, former Bellator lightweight champion, Michael Chandler.
Nevertheless, Nurmagomedov acquired MMA promotion Gorilla Fighting Championship, in November 2020 and renamed it Eagle Fighting Championship as on ode to his nickname "The Eagle".
Nurmagomedov took to Instagram to share his excitement for the future of the promotion:

Matt Brown Admits Defeat Against Carlos Condit At UFC Fight Island 7
The co-main event of UFC Fight Island 7 was for the hardcore MMA fans who long wanted to see Carlos Condit battle Matt Brown.
While it may have been a few years after fans had wished to see the two legends square-off, the fight was still a fun one.
However it wasn't all smiles for both competitors after Condit won a unanimous (30-27 x3) decision victory over Brown. Brown called the 30-27 decision on all three judge's scorecards 'ridiculous' and thought he won the first-round.
Brown took to Twitter to cloear up his comments on the fight, admitting he thought he had lost the bout, while still thinking he won the first-round:
I’d like to make it clear I know I lost. 29-28 is proper and third round wouldn’t be a robbery if you gave it to me but I won’t argue at all giving it to Condit. Last post on this love all you guys hope yo I enjoyed the show! Onward and upward! https://t.co/vRKDb8rH8G— Matt Brown (@IamTheImmortal) January 18, 2021
