CSAC Recommends Four Fighters Move Up A Weight Class

MMA

UFC Fight Night Fresno was a night filled with MMA action that fans and fighters alike soon will not be forgetting.

However, a recommendation has been given by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) for Marlon Moraes, Iuri Alcantara, Davi Ramos and Luke Sanders to move up a weight class because they did not stay within 10% of their weigh-in weight during fight time.

MMA Fighting first reported the news.

This comes from a new set of weight cutting rules passed by the CSAC earlier this year.

The CSAC will no longer allow the fighters to compete “without extensive medical documentation from a licensed physician certifying the weight class is appropriate and verified by CSAC physicians.”

Moraes weighed in at 155 pounds on fight day, while Alcantara came in at 154.6 and Sanders came in at 154.5 pounds, plus Ramos came in at 179 pounds.

These aren’t the first fighters to get the recommendation from the CSAC, as Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Yana Kunitskaya and UFC fighter Drew Dober got it as well. Neither fighter has competed in the state of California or anywhere else since the CSAC recommendation was given.

None of the four fighters have yet to comment on what the CSAC has issued.
