Francis Ngannou earned a first round knockout victory over top ranked Alistair Overeem in the co-main event of UFC 218.
UFC President Dana White was in attendance at UFC 218 and he was impressed by what he saw from the heavyweight contender.
“[Ngannou] looked incredible tonight. Wow,” White said after the event. “That’s as impressive a heavyweight knockout as you will ever see. When you look at him, he looks like the heavyweight champion of the world. I mean, he looks like the heavyweight champion of something. The guy’s a monster. He continues to get better. I always believed in this guy since I met him, I thought that he was going to be the man, but, boy, he looked like the man tonight.”
Ngannou is expected to challenge for the UFC Heavyweight Title next, but the champion is current in the midst of contract negotiations with the promotion.
White also believes that Ngannou is going to be the next big star for the promotion.
“This guy’s going to be a rock star — globally,” White added.
The heavyweight fighter has earned all of his victories in the UFC by KO/TKO and the last four fights that Ngannou competed in ended within the opening round.
