Dana White Praises Doctor For Stopping UFC 231 Main Event, Brian Ortega Does The Same

UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway headlined UFC 231, defeating Brian Ortega via fourth round TKO due to a doctor stoppage.

Dana White was in attendance at the event and has nothing but praise for the doctor for stopping the bout at the end of the fourth round.

“I commend the doctor here in Toronto for stopping that fight,” White said at the UFC 231 post-fight press conference. “He did a great job.”

Holloway landed a total of 134 strikes in the fourth round alone and severely damaged the left eye of Ortega.

White would even admit that Ortega was simply too tough for his own good at UFC 231.

“For all of us that have been in the fight game a long time, that’s what you call too tough for your own good,” White said. “And I believe he could have done the fifth round. I believe he would have done the fifth round, but it should have never happened. That fifth round should have never happened. He’s a young, talented guy, and I think going into that fifth round would have been very bad for him, health wise. The fourth round wasn’t good for him health wise.”

Ortega would also take to Instagram to say that he agreed with the doctor's call:
