Dana White Says Paulo Costa Could Face Israel Adesanya, Instead Of Yoel Romero, At UFC 248

Reports have recently surfaced stating that UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya could be defending the gold against Yoel Romero at UFC 248

However, according to UFC President Dana White, it could be Paulo Costa getting the title shot instead of Romero.

“There’s no holdup on it all,” White told MMA Junkie. “That’s the fight we’re trying to make. It would be those two and Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The only question is, I don’t know if you’ve seen on social media, but if you look at Costa, he looks like he’s ready to go again, and he’s pushing hard saying, ‘I could take this fight.’”

Costa was reportedly set to be the first challenger for Adesanya, but was forced out of action after getting bicep surgery in 2019.

There are less than two months before UFC 248 takes place and the UFC President didn’t have much to say about the yet to be announced main event.

“We’re working on it,” White said.

UFC 248 takes place on Saturday, March 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
