Darren Till is headlining the upcoming UFC Fight Night London event, facing Jorge Masvidal in a welterweight division affair.
Ben Askren just made his UFC debut at UFC 235, but Till says Askren must work his way up the ranks before a fight between them will materialize.
“He can call out, but he’s gotta work his way up the ranks as well,” Till told MMA Fighting. “It all depends on who I want to fight next — not him. He only has one fight in the UFC. He needs to work his way up.”
Askren defeated former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler at the aforementioned UFC 235 card, but that win came via a controversial submission.
The banter between Till and Askren has been going on for quite some time now, but Till isn’t bothered by it.
“I don’t give a f*ck,” Till said. “It’s not personal to me. It’s all business. So, my attention is on the welterweight gold. He gets a bit of attention like any welterweight gets attention. Obviously, Masvidal gets the most attention. It’s just business as usual.”
UFC Fight Night London takes place on Saturday, March 16 from the 02 Arena in London, England with Darren Till and Jorge Masvidal headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
