Fight-size Boxing Update: Fight Official In Philadelphia, Miguel Cotto Signs Puertorican Prospect, Floyd Mayweather Scouting In Rio

Here is your fight-size boxing update for August 16:

* Welterweights Dusty Hernandez-Harrison (29-0-1, 16 KO) and Thomas "Cornflake" LaManna (22-1, 9 KO) will meet in a scheduled 10-round fight on Sept. 15 in the main event of a CBS Sports Net-televised card at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. Among those appearing on the undercard are super middleweight Jerry Odom (14-2-1, 13 KO) in an eight-rounder and welterweight prospect Kenneth Sims Jr. (7-0, 2 KO) in a six-round fight. Their opponents are yet to be determined.

* Miguel Cotto announced that his company, Miguel Cotto Promotions, has signed Carlos Caraballo, Puerto Rico's reigning national champion at 123 pounds. The 20-year-old southpaw, approximately 143-14 as an amateur, who plans to turn professional as a bantamweight.

* Floyd Mayweather Jr. flew to Rio for the Olympics to scout potential stars in boxing and one of the those is guaranteed bronze medalist Joshua Buatsi, who is currently competing in the light heavyweight division. Buatsi has reached the semi-finals and could be one of those offered a contract by Mayweather in the future.

* Vlad Hrunov won a bid for the purse bid of a Luis Ortiz (25-0, 2 NC, 22 KO) vs. Alexander Ustinovon (33-1, 24 KO) fight on behalf of Russian promoter Andrey Ryabinsky's World of Boxing. Ortiz is the current WBA interim heavyweight champion. He was the only person to bid on the fight and won with the minimum allowable bid of $600,000. Ortiz is entitled to 60 percent, meaning he will earn $360,000, and Ustinov is entitled to 40 percent, meaning his purse will be $240,000. Hrunov told ESPN.com that there is a good chance that the fight will land at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and take place on the HBO PPV card headlined by unified light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev taking on former super middleweight champion Andre Ward on November 19.
