Henry Cejudo Says He Relinquished The UFC Flyweight Title, Wasn’t Stripped Of It

Former two division UFC champion Henry Cejudo is now just the UFC Bantamweight Champion after the fighter gave up the UFC Flyweight Title yesterday.

In a statement to MMA Junkie, one thing Cejudo wants to make clear is that he relinquished the UFC Flyweight Title and the promotion didn’t strip the former two division champion of the gold.

“I am not being stripped. I am relinquishing my title. … ‘Triple C’ is relinquishing his title to these wannabe, so-called flyweight kingpins. That’s what’s going on. I’m relinquishing my belt. Being stripped is not what I’m doing. I’m relinquishing, and you can tell them all to bend the knee.”

Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo are now set to headline UFC Fight Night Norfolk for the vacant UFC Flyweight Title, although it hasn’t officially been announced by the UFC as of this writing.

Cejudo will still rule over the UFC Bantamweight Division once he returns to action, as the fighter is currently recovering from shoulder surgery. There is no word yet as to whom Cejudo will make his first title defense against, as the recovering fighter recently called out former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo for a bout.
